The best full-length documentary film, according to the American Film Academy, is "20 Days in Mariupol" by Ukrainian director Mstyslav Chernov, Suspilne Cultura informs.

On the night of March 10-11, the 96th Academy Awards ceremony took place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, USA.

The 5th Rivne International Film Festival Dream City will be held in Rivne on June 5-8, 2024.

The 18th International Festival Docudays UA will take place online from March 26 to April 4

Docudays UA, the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, will take place from March 26 to April 4 entirely online on the Docuspace platform. The event will be held for the eighteenth time, and for the second year in a row online. This was reported by the festival website.

The names of three Ukrainian films that will take part in the national selection for the Oscar in 2020 are known. They are:

"Paris Beaches" shows a movie on the water in Paris

The makeshift cinema on the Seine in Paris opened on July 18.

The first water cinema appeared in Paris. Here, spectators are accommodated in boats, — said the Europeyska Pravda with reference to Reuters.

Viewers saw the comedy Le Grand Bain, housed in 38 electric boats outdoors and at a safe distance. Some of the spectators were placed on a wooden platform in the open air.

The organizers — the Paris Beaches project — are planning new similar shows.

The Cannes Film Festival and about 20 other world film festivals, including the Berlinale, Venice, Locarno, will host a global film festival on YouTube, according to DW.

The movies will be available from May 29 to June 7 for free on the YouTube channel We Are One: A Global Film Festival.

We create a platform for the free exchange of ideas between professionals, experienced representatives of Ukrainian and foreign cinema and those who are at the beginning of their careers and have great ambitions. THE 5th RIVNE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL DREAM CITY

The 5th Rivne International Film Festival Dream City will be held on June 5-8, 2024 in Rivne.

The program includes screenings of Ukrainian (10 hours) and foreign films (10 hours, with Ukrainian subtitles).

Nominations of the competition program:

  • length feature films;
  • short feature films;
  • short documentary films (competition of films "Wounded Earth" about ecological problems caused by wars).

Opening: June 5. Screening of the short documentaries, nomination "Wounded Earth" due to the competition program.

Film screenings due to the competition program: June 6-7.

Round table with directors, cinematographers, actors and IT engineers and out-of-competition film screening about AI in the industry: June 7.

Closing: June 8. Award the winners of the film festival and film screening — the winner of the Grand Prix.

About the RIFF

The Rivne International Film Festival Dream City, launched in 2016 in Rivne, took place annually in 2016-2019. The initiators and founders of the film festival are director, screenwriter, member of the Ukrainian Film Academy Viktor Bulyha, vice-president of the Ukrainian Marketing Association Oleksandr Gladunov, and entrepreneur, scientist, and Doctor of Philosophy Serhii Paladiichuk.

Due to COVID-19 and the beginning of Russian large-scale military aggression on the territory of Ukraine, the film festival Dream City was not held in 2020-2023.

Partners and sponsors of the event in different years: Rivne City Council, Rivne Regional State Administration, Ukrainian State Film Agency, Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, and private sponsors. In general, the events of the film festival over four years (competition and non-competition film screenings, accompanying events) were visited by about 15,000 people.

For four years, more than 1,250 applications from 60 countries were submitted for participation in competitive screenings, and more than 240 films were selected for competitive viewing.

During 2016-2019, the jury included well-known film artists, figures of culture and Ukrainian cinema, in particular, theatre and film actor, People's Artist of Ukraine Bohdan Beniuk; film actress, laureate of the First National Film Award "Zolota Dzyga" Rymma Ziubina; film expert, editor-in-chief of the Kinokolo and "Screenplay Workshop" websites Volodymyr Voitenko; producer, artist Volodymyr Filipov; director Yurii Kovalov; screenwriter, Chairman of the Screenwriters' Guild of Ukraine Andrii Babik; Olesia Anastasieva, journalist, author and TV presenter; film expert, screenwriter Yurii Soroka and others.

The following films took the Grand Prix: 2016 – "Mousse" by John Hellberg (Sweden); 2017 – "War of Chimeras" by Anastasiia and Mariia Starozhytski (Ukraine); 2018 – "Myth" by Leonid Kanter and Ivan Yasnii (Ukraine); 2019 – The Wind Phone by Kristen Gervek (USA).

The film festival became a communication platform for meetings and creative contacts of filmmakers from Ukraine and abroad.
